Fees & Conditions
If you are considering mediating you may wish to consider
Patrick Walker’s CV with your legal advisers. If you have any
queries do feel free to email or call Patrick. A busy workload
means that he may not be able to answer your call immediately
but please leave a message and he will get back to you as
soon as he can.
Usually, when you are ready to mediate, your legal advisers will
ask for a mediation agreement and agree a venue and date with
the mediator.
The fee for the mediator is agreed and almost always divided
equally between the parties.
Patrick Walker will usually offer a fixed fee mediation and rates are available on request.
Standard conditions include the following:
- The fixed fee covers the period from the time in the morning at which the parties wish to start until 6.00pm.
..After 6.00pm an hourly rate applies.
- The fixed fee includes 3 hours preparation which is generally sufficient, particularly where a mediation bundle
..has been prepared.
- The booking of the mediator is confirmed after receipt of mediation agreement(s) signed by the parties.
- The fixed fee is due 7 days before the date agreed for the mediation.
..Any additional fees are payable 14 days after the mediation.
The parties’ legal advisers will usually agree the contents of a document bundle for the mediator’s use. It is also usual
for each party to provide a ‘position statement’ – a short summary of their up-to-date position. This is usually also provided
to the other party but can be for the mediator’s eyes only.
The mediator will make himself available by email and/or telephone so that preliminary matters and practical considerations
such as timing, parking, refreshments and listing those who will attend, can be discussed.
